Guided Tour of Messina

The tour starts near the Messina port, where we will explore the city's turbulent history. We will first identify the monument welcoming visitors—a golden statue of the Virgin Mary blessing the city, along with its story.

Next, we visit the Church of the Santissima Annunziata dei Catalani, influenced by Arab, Roman, and Byzantine architecture, built on the ruins of an older temple to Neptune.

As Messina is renowned for its cannoli, we will stop at a traditional bakery for a tasting of these local pastries.

Then, we will head to the Piazza del Duomo to admire the cathedral's historic 12th-century architecture, including the ornamental clock tower, a must-see sight in Messina.

The tour concludes at the Puppet Theatre Museum of the Gargano family, recognized on UNESCO's list of Intangible Cultural Heritage.

This excursion is available for cruise passengers. Indicate the boat's name when making your reservation. We will meet you half an hour after the cruise arrival. If the cruise arrives after 10 am, the tour will start at 12:30 or 2:30 pm, based on the boat's schedule.
