Discover the history of Messina, a Sicilian city marked by earthquakes and invasions, yet featuring stunning architecture including Roman remains.

Guided Tour of Messina

The tour begins near Messina port, where we will explore the city's history shaped by natural disasters and invasions. Our first stop will be the monument greeting visitors, a golden statue of the Virgin Mary.

Next, we will visit the Church of the Santissima Annunziata dei Catalani, showcasing a blend of Arab, Roman, and Byzantine architectural influences, built on the ruins of a temple to Neptune.

Experience a taste of Messina’s famous cannoli at a local bakery during the tour. Afterward, we will arrive at Piazza del Duomo to view the 12th-century cathedral, notable for its ornamental clock tower, a must-see attraction.

We will conclude our walking tour at the Puppet Theatre Museum of the Gargano family, recognized by UNESCO as part of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
