Segway Tour of Messina
At the scheduled time, we'll meet in front of the Santissima Annunziata dei Catalani Church to commence our segway tour around Messina, located in the north-east of Sicily.
We will begin on via Castello a mare, reaching Piazza Cairoli, a commercial area of Messina. Next, we will continue to Piazza Pugliatti, where the courthouse and the university are located.
The next stop will be Piazza Duomo, home to key monuments including the Orion fountain, the Cathedral, and its moving bronze statues that activate with the astronomical clock.
We will ride past baroque fountains and neoclassical churches to the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele III. Afterwards, we will ascend to the Church of Montalto, offering a splendid panoramic view of the Sicilian city.
On the descent, we will see the medieval Church of St. Francis of Assisi and the baroque Palace of Monte di Pietà, impacted by the 1908 earthquake. We will then ride to Piazza Unità d'Italia, where the Government Palace and the fountain of Neptune by Giovanni Angelo Montorsoli can be admired.
Finally, we will visit Piazza Municipio to see the statue of Ferdinand of Bourbon and the Vittorio Emanuele II theatre before returning to the meeting point to conclude this three-hour tour.
