Segway Tour of Messina
At the scheduled time, we'll meet in front of the Santissima Annunziata dei Catalani Church to start our segway tour around Messina, located in the north-east of Sicily.
First, we'll take via Castello a mare, also known as Castellamare, to reach Piazza Cairoli, a commercial area of Messina. We will continue along Piazza Pugliatti to see the courthouse and the university.
Next, our segway tour will take us to Piazza Duomo, home to emblematic monuments such as the Orion fountain, the Cathedral, and its clock tower. The bronze statues move when the astronomical clock strikes the hour.
We'll ride past baroque fountains and neoclassical churches to reach the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele III. Then, we will visit the Church of Montalto for a panoramic view of the Sicilian city.
On the return, we'll pass the medieval Church of St. Francis of Assisi and the baroque Palace of Monte di Pietà, which was damaged in the 1908 earthquake. Next, we'll head to Piazza Unità d'Italia to see the Government Palace and the fountain of Neptune by Giovanni Angelo Montorsoli.
Finally, we will go to Piazza Municipio to admire the statue of Ferdinand of Bourbon and the Vittorio Emanuele II theatre. After passing the monument to Don John of Austria on Via Lepanto, we will return to the meeting point to conclude this three-hour tour.
