Tindari & Milazzo Excursion

At your preferred time, we will convene on Via I Settembre. From this point, we will embark on our journey towards the city of Tindari, taking in spectacular views of the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Aeolian Islands as we travel.

After approximately an hour on the road, we will arrive at our first destination. Our initial stop will be a scenic viewpoint where you can revel in the magnificent vistas of the Nebrodi Mountains and capture stunning photos.

Next, we will proceed to the Sanctuary of Tindari. You might find it interesting that the revered statue of the Black Madonna housed here was crafted in Constantinople over a millennium ago. This iconic figure draws thousands of pilgrims annually from throughout Sicily.

Following our time within the sanctuary, the guide will lead us to the archaeological site of Tindari. Here, you will discover a remarkably preserved Greek theater, ancient fortifications, Roman mosaics, and a basilica dating back to the 4th century B.C. As we explore this historical site, we will share insights about the founding of the ancient city of Tyndaris!

After finishing our visit to Tindari, we will continue our journey for another hour towards Milazzo. Upon our arrival, we will wander through its charming historic center filled with churches and vibrant houses. Besides that, we will have the opportunity to explore the Castello di Milazzo, a fortress that showcases renovations by Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Arabs, and Normans.

Finally, we will regroup at the minibus to bid farewell to Milazzo. After a fulfilling seven-hour excursion, we will conclude our journey back at the original meeting point in Messina.
