Explore Meteora’s monasteries on a half-day trip from Kalambaka or Kastraki, with options for a daytime adventure or a sunset tour.
Tour Options
At booking, select from two options. Both include hotel pickup and drop-off, an informative audio guide in multiple languages, and transport to the Meteora monasteries.
Half-Day Trip
Pickup will be from your hotel in Kalambaka or Kastraki at the scheduled time for a tour of Meteora.
A local tour assistant will provide insights into the history of the UNESCO World Heritage Site as we ascend the rock formations, learning about the early hermits and monks. We'll visit all 6 monasteries, with our audio guide explaining the rock formations. Participants can enter three monasteries for a deeper understanding of the community and views of the town. This experience lasts 4 hours, concluding back at your hotel.
Half-Day Trip at Sunset
This option offers a visit to Meteora at sunset. Accompanied by a local tour assistant and an audio guide, participants will explore Meteora's traditions and history.
We will start at either the Agios Stefanos or Saint Nicholas monasteries, followed by a visit to the Byzantine Church of the Virgin Mary in Kalabaka to appreciate its architecture. Next, we will explore the Hermetic Caves of Badova, learning about early Christian hermits' lives.
The tour concludes with a stop on a cliff's edge to view the sunset over Meteora, followed by return to your hotel after 4 hours.
