Day Trip Details

At the indicated time, we'll pick you up by minibus in Kalambaka to begin the journey to Meteora, home of the renowned hanging monasteries. This brief journey of approximately 20 minutes leads to these monasteries situated atop rocky formations at 600 metres (1,968 feet).

During the tour, information about the history and facts of Meteora and its monasteries will be provided. Originally, 24 monasteries existed in Meteora, but today only six can be visited: Great Meteoron, Varlaam, Rousanou, St. Nicholas Anapausas, St. Stephen, and Holy Trinity.

We will visit three of these monasteries, depending on the day. Note that the visit inside these monasteries is not guided, but brief information will be provided before entry. After touring the Meteora Monasteries, we will return you to Kalambaka, concluding the tour after 4 hours.

Visit to the Monasteries

You will visit the interior of 3 monasteries during the tour, subject to availability as some are closed on specific days. For instance, the Great Meteoron Monastery is closed every Tuesday; if your reservation falls on that day, you will only admire its exterior.

No guided tours are available inside the monasteries, but an audio guide can be downloaded for assistance during your visit.
