The monasteries of Meteora are a key motivation to visit Greece. This day trip from Kalambaka allows you to admire the sunset and visit one or two of the UNESCO-protected monasteries.

Pickup will be from your hotel in Kalambaka or Kastraki in the morning, followed by transportation to Meteora. An English-speaking guide will provide historical insights about the rocky formations, which rise over 600 meters, and the monasteries that sit atop them.

Of the 24 original monasteries, 13 remain, with six accessible for visits: the Grand Meteora Monastery, St. Nicholas Monastery, the Monastery of the Holy Trinity, St. Stephen's Monastery, Roussanou, and Varlaam Monasteries. You may visit one or two of these, beautifully illuminated by sunset.

Additionally, you will visit the Byzantine church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, an 11th-century temple located beneath the Meteora rocks.

Conclude your day by witnessing the sun setting behind the monasteries, with free time to enjoy and photograph the scene, creating a memorable experience reminiscent of the Eagle's Nest from Game of Thrones. Afterward, under the cover of night, you will be returned to your hotel in Kalambaka or Kastraki.
