Meteora Sunset Trip
The monasteries of Meteora attract many visitors to Greece. This day trip from Kalambaka allows you to admire the sunset in this remarkable location and visit one or two UNESCO-protected monasteries.
You will be picked up from your hotel in Kalambaka or Kastraki in the morning and transported to Meteora. An English-speaking guide will provide insights into the history of the rocky formations, soaring more than 600 meters high, and the monasteries perched atop them.
Of the original 24 monasteries, 13 remain, and six are open to visitors: the Grand Meteora Monastery, St. Nicholas Monastery, Monastery of the Holy Trinity, St. Stephen's Monastery, Roussanou, and Varlaam Monasteries. During this trip, you may visit one or two, aglow in the sunset light.
Additionally, you will explore the Byzantine church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, an 11th-century temple located beneath the dramatic Meteora rocks.
To conclude the day, you will experience the breathtaking view of the sun setting behind the monasteries, with free time allocated for admiring and photographing the sunset.
Afterward, you will be returned to your hotel in Kalambaka or Kastraki.
