Meteora Sunset Trip

The monasteries of Meteora are a significant reason to visit Greece. This day trip from Kalambaka allows you to admire the sunset and visit one or two of the UNESCO-protected monasteries.

Picks up start from your hotel in Kalambaka or Kastraki in the morning. An English-speaking guide will explain the history of the rocky formations, standing more than 600 meters high, and the monasteries positioned atop them.

Of the original 24 monasteries, 13 remain, with six available for visits: the Grand Meteora Monastery, St. Nicholas Monastery, Monastery of the Holy Trinity, St. Stephen's Monastery, Roussanou, and Varlaam Monasteries. You will have the opportunity to visit one or two of them as they are illuminated by the sunset.

The tour includes a visit to the Byzantine church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, an 11th-century temple located beneath the Meteora rocks.

Concluding the day, you will experience the sunset behind the monasteries, with free time for photography, reminiscent of the Eagle's Nest from Game of Thrones. Following this, you will be returned to your hotel in Kalambaka or Kastraki.
