Meteora Sunset Trip

The monasteries of Meteora serve as a prime motivation to visit Greece. This day trip from Kalambaka allows you to admire the sunset in this location and visit one or two of the UNESCO-protected monasteries.

Pickup will be from your hotel in Kalambaka or Kastraki in the morning. An English-speaking guide will provide historical context about the monasteries located atop rock formations over 600 meters high.

Of the original 24 monasteries, 13 remain, with six accessible: the Grand Meteora Monastery, St. Nicholas Monastery, the Monastery of the Holy Trinity, St. Stephen's Monastery, Roussanou, and Varlaam Monasteries. During the trip, you can visit one or two of these, enhanced by the sunset. Additionally, you'll visit the Byzantine church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, an 11th-century temple beneath the Meteora formations.

Your day will conclude with the breathtaking view of the sun setting behind the monasteries, providing time for photography before returning to your hotel in Kalambaka or Kastraki under nightfall.
