Explore different eras of Mexico City on this guided tour of the most historical places in the Chapultepec Forest: the Chapultepec Castle and the National Anthropological Museum.
Tour Details
Our first stop will be the Chapultepec Castle, currently the National History Museum, which was the scene of numerous battles during the American invasion, served as a military college, and was a Presidential residence until 1944. It was also the imperial palace of Maximiliano and Carlota, who were established as Emperor and Empress of Mexico during the six-year French intervention known as the "Second Mexican Empire".
We'll spend 1 hour and 30 minutes visiting the castle. During the tour, we'll see sculptures of historical figures such as Cuauhtémoc (the last Aztec Emperor) and Hernán Cortés (one of the first Spanish colonizers), discovering interesting stories about the conquest, independence, and revolution. We'll experience the ambiance of 19th-century Mexico as we pass through halls decorated in a traditional European style and learn about the life of Emperor Maximilian.
Having enjoyed some of the best views of Mexico City from the balconies of the Chapultepec Castle, you will have free time for perhaps a refreshing drink.
Then our tour continues, taking you back to the very origins of Mesoamerica, with a 2-hour 30-minute guided tour of the National Anthropological Museum, which houses the largest collection of pre-Columbian art in the world.
We'll follow the paths of pre-Hispanic societies, discovering reconstructions of the tombs and temples of the old Aztec and Mayan civilizations, and viewing invaluable archaeological pieces from the Zapotec, Toltec, Teotihuacan, and Mexica civilizations.
Partial Closures
Occasionally, Chapultepec Castle may close without prior notice. If we're unable to visit this part of the tour, we will offer you a refund for the corresponding portion of the tour.
