Mexico City's National Anthropological Museum is the most important museum in Latin America, attracting over two million visitors annually to view the largest collection of prehispanic art in the world.
We will spend 2.5 hours tracing the steps of prehispanic societies and discussing recent archaeological excavations and ethnographic studies. The journey will take us back 10,000 years as we examine a significant collection of everyday objects from Mexico's first inhabitants and symbolic items from their cultural and religious practices.
You will see the renowned 'Sun Stone', also known as the Aztec Calendar, and uncover its supposed secrets about the universe's origins. The tour includes reconstructions of tombs and temples from the ancient Aztec and Mayan civilizations, as well as remains from the Zapotec, Toltec, Teotihuacan, and Mexica cultures.
After learning about Mexico's cultural and artistic heritage for 2.5 hours, you will have free time to explore the museum at your own pace.
