Explore different eras of Mexico City on this guided tour of the most historical places in the Chapultepec Forest: the Chapultepec Castle and the National Anthropological Museum.
Itinerary
Our first stop will be the Chapultepec Castle, currently the National History Museum, which has historical significance as the scene of battles during the American invasion, and served as a military college and Presidential residence until 1944. It was also the imperial palace of Maximiliano and Carlota during the "Second Mexican Empire."
We'll spend 1 hour 30 minutes visiting the castle, observing sculptures of historical figures such as Cuauhtémoc and Hernán Cortés, and learning about the conquest, independence, and revolution. We will explore the halls decorated in a traditional European style and learn about the life of Emperor Maximiliano.
Following this, enjoy views of Mexico City from the castle's balconies with some free time for refreshments.
Next, our tour includes a guided visit of 2 hours 30 minutes at the National Anthropological Museum, which houses the largest collection of pre-Colombian art in the world.
We'll explore the legacy of prehispanic societies through reconstructions of tombs and temples from the Aztec and Mayan civilisations, along with archaeological pieces from Zapotec, Toltec, Teotihuacan, and Mexica civilisations.
Partial closures
Occasionally, Chapultepec Castle may close without prior notice. If this occurs, a refund for the corresponding part of the tour will be offered.
