Lima Food Tour
When booking, you can choose between options for a gastronomic tour of Lima. Both include tastings and an English-speaking guide. Below are the details of each tour:
Tour of the historic centre of Lima
We'll meet in the district of Miraflores next to the Cafeteria Terrua to begin the food tour. We'll discuss the role of coffee in Peruvian society and its historical significance. Following a coffee tasting, we'll take the metro to the historic centre, with our first stop at the Central Market and Chinatown, where we'll taste a fusion of Chinese and Peruvian dishes and sample traditional desserts or "chicha morada", made from purple corn.
Next, we will visit iconic locations like the Palacio de Congresos and the San Francisco Church. We will then head to the Taberna Cordano to taste Peruvian churros and stuffed potato, complemented by Pisco Sour.
The food tour will conclude with a return to the Miraflores neighbourhood.
Miraflores & Surquillo Tour
We will meet in the morning at Cafeteria Terrua in Miraflores, starting the tour with a coffee tasting and an explanation of its importance in Peru.
Next, we will go to the Surquillo Market to taste Peruvian fruits like lucuma and other traditional products. We will then walk to a local pastry shop for desserts made from ingredients seen in the market.
Afterward, we will visit La Preferida, a popular spot for Peruvian ceviche, where you can enjoy tapas made from seafood alongside a typical Peruvian drink.
To conclude the gastronomic tour, we'll stop at a local café for a churro tasting.
