Discover Guatemala's history with this detailed tour of Guatemala City and Antigua Guatemala, showcasing both the old colonial town and the modern city.
Guatemala History Tour
Pickup is at 8 am from your hotel in Guatemala City, followed by a trip to the old colonial town of Guatemala.
Approximately an hour later, we will arrive at the center of Antigua Guatemala. The first stop is Central Park, where we will see the Palacio de Los Capitanes Generales, the old city council, and San José Church, the former cathedral.
You can take photos by the Fountain of the Mermaids, built in 1739, inspired by the Neptune Fountain in Bologna, Italy. The fountain symbolizes purity and temptation.
The tour continues to the Second Cathedral to appreciate its baroque facade.
Next, we will sample a traditional dish at a local restaurant (cost not included) before heading to the modern city for a tour around Guatemala City.
We will walk down Avenida Las Américas to the city center, where we will view various governmental buildings, including the Supreme Court, the Finance Ministry, the city council, and the Bank of Guatemala.
The tour concludes at the Plaza Mayor de la Constitución, home to the Catedral Metropolitana.
We will return to the hotels in Guatemala City around 5:30 pm.
