Two neighbourhoods, two cathedrals, and the great jewels of the Sicilian Baroque. In this private tour of Modica with an English-speaking guide, you can explore this city and its treasures in detail.

Description

At the indicated time, we'll meet at the entrance of San Giorgio Cathedral to commence this private tour of Modica, a city in the province of Ragusa.

This Sicilian town is situated on two levels: an Upper Modica and a Lower Modica. We'll start in Upper Modica, admiring the facade of San Giorgio Cathedral, a prominent example of Sicilian Baroque.

Inside the church, we'll view its stuccoes, works of art, and the Sacred Ark containing the relics of the patron saint. Upon exiting, enjoy the views of Lower Modica. Next, we'll descend to Lower Modica, navigating narrow streets and stairs, passing the Castle of the Counts, a medieval fort.

Our tour will also include the house of Salvatore Quasimodo, now a museum. Once in Modica Basso, we will visit the late-baroque-style Cathedral of San Pietro, notable for its staircase decorated with statues.

The tour concludes after two hours on Corso Umberto I, Lower Modica’s main street, where you can explore stores selling typical products.
