On this guided tour of Monforte d'Alba, we will explore the history of Cuneo, a province in the Piedmont region.
Tour Description
We will begin our guided tour of Monforte d'Alba at the Tourist Office located at 3 Via della Chiesa. The tour focuses on one of the most beautiful villages in the Langhe, situated to the south and east of the Tanaro River.
Our first stop will be the Chiesa della Madonna della Neve, built in the early 20th Century, followed by Piazza Umberto I, the center of local social and commercial activities. We will then visit the Martina Museum, dedicated to a colonel of the Savoy army, and explore its various rooms.
Next, we will head to the medieval part of Monforte d'Alba, particularly Saracca, the town's oldest quarter, where we will discuss the Cathars. Following this, we will visit Piazza della Vecchia Chiesa to see the Oratorio di Sant'Agostino and the Clock Tower.
Lastly, we will visit the open-air amphitheatre of Horschowski, the venue for the Monforte Jazz Festival every July, and the iconic Big Bench #12 for photo opportunities. We will conclude the tour at the Alberto Scarampi del Cairo lookout point after one hour.
