On this guided tour of Monforte d'Alba, we'll explore the history of Cuneo in the Piedmont region.
Tour Description
The guided tour of Monforte d'Alba begins at the Tourist Office at 3 Via della Chiesa. We will explore the beautiful hilly area south and east of the Tanaro River, in Piedmont's province of Cuneo.
We'll first visit the Chiesa della Madonna della Neve, built in the early 20th Century. Our route then continues to Piazza Umberto I, the town's social and commercial center, followed by a visit to the Martina Museum, dedicated to a Savoy army colonel.
After touring the ancient palace with its various rooms, we will head to the medieval part of Monforte d'Alba and discuss the Cathars while walking through the Saracca quarter, the town's oldest area. We will visit Piazza della Vecchia Chiesa, the Oratorio di Sant'Agostino, and the Clock Tower.
Next, we will visit the open-air amphitheatre of Horschowski, the venue for the Monforte Jazz Festival in July, and the iconic Big Bench #12 for photo opportunities.
The tour concludes at the Alberto Scarampi del Cairo lookout point after an hour.
