On this guided tour of Monforte d'Alba, we will learn about the history of Cuneo, part of the Piedmont region.

Tour Description

We will start our guided tour of Monforte d'Alba at the Tourist Office, located at 3 Via della Chiesa. The tour explores one of the most beautiful villages in the Langhe, a hilly area situated south and east of the Tanaro River.

Our first visit will be to the Chiesa della Madonna della Neve, built in the early 20th Century. Next, we will proceed to Piazza Umberto I, the center of social and commercial life. From there, we will visit the Martina Museum, which honors a colonel of the Savoy army.

After exploring this historic palace, we will move to the medieval section of Monforte d'Alba in the upper part, discussing the Cathars while walking through Saracca, the town's oldest quarter. Our next stop will be Piazza della Vecchia Chiesa to see the Oratorio di Sant'Agostino and the Clock Tower.

We will then visit the open-air amphitheatre of Horschowski, host of the Monforte Jazz Festival every July, and stop at Big Bench #12 for pictures. The tour will conclude at the Alberto Scarampi del Cairo lookout point after an hour.
