Private Tour Details

After meeting your guide at the indicated time in Via Reale Basilica, the most important street in the town, you'll begin your private tour of Monte Sant'Angelo.

Your first stop will be exploring the historic neighbourhood of Junno, where you will visit the Church of Santa Maria Maggiore, dating back to the 11th century. Inside, you can see the Byzantine-style frescos.

You will then proceed to the Sanctuary of Monte Sant'Angelo, a significant pilgrimage destination since the Middle Ages. Learn about this shrine, the oldest in Western Europe dedicated to the archangel Michael, and view its well-preserved architecture and artwork. Notably, the basilica is built in a cave.

After exploring the Sanctuary, you will return to the historic centre of Monte Sant'Angelo, where you can wander through the labyrinthine streets and discover local handicrafts in typical shops. Among these, the sammecalere artisans create statuettes of St. Michael the Archangel, the town's patron saint.

The tour concludes after 2 hours of exploring the main attractions of Monte Sant'Angelo.
