Imagine wandering amidst trees shrouded in mist. Experience the breathtaking natural splendor of the Monteverde Cloud Forest on this engaging hiking journey. Together, we will explore the rich biodiversity of this extraordinary ecosystem in Costa Rica.

Available Options

When you reserve, you can select between two distinct options for a hike in the Cloud Forest. Both options last for 3 hours and provide hotel pickup and drop-off, the use of binoculars and a telescope, along with an experienced English-speaking guide.

Here are the details for each selection:

Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve

The Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve stands out from other rainforests in Costa Rica due to its persistent cloud coverage, which gives it its name. Situated at an altitude of 1,600 meters (5,250 feet), this area maintains high humidity levels, creating a unique atmosphere.

During your hike, a knowledgeable guide will share insights about the floral and faunal diversity within this exceptional ecosystem, recognized as one of the most biodiverse regions on the planet. Keep an eye out for monkeys, coatis, hummingbirds, and, with some luck, spot the beautiful quetzal, often regarded as the most stunning bird globally. You'll be provided with binoculars and a telescope to enhance your wildlife viewing experience.

The trail will lead us to around 9 distinct hiking paths in the reserve. One of the highlights of the tour is the La Ventana viewpoint, where you can gaze across both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans simultaneously.

Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve

This option invites you to discover the Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve, which is situated within the Tilarán mountain range adjacent to the Monteverde conservation area, encompassing over 300 hectares (741 acres) of cloud forest. Here, you’ll have the chance to witness hundreds of plant and animal species, including spider monkeys and sloths.
