Can you imagine walking through cloud-covered trees? Be amazed by Monteverde Cloud Forest's natural beauty on this hiking route. We'll uncover the biodiversity of this unique ecosystem in Costa Rica.
Options
When booking, you can choose between 2 options for a hike around the Cloud Forest. Both last 3 hours and include hotel pickup and drop-off, the use of binoculars and a telescope, and an English-speaking guide.
Here, you can see the details of each option:
Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve
Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve is unique among other rainforests in Costa Rica, as it is in a constant cloud at 1,600 meters (5,250 feet) above sea level. The humidity here creates the cloud-like cover.
During the walk, a guide will explain the fauna and flora in this ecosystem, which has one of the highest biodiversity levels in the world. Wildlife such as monkeys, coatis, hummingbirds, and potentially the famous quetzal may be observed. Binoculars and a telescope are available for animal viewing.
The route includes around 9 hikes in the reserve, with one notable spot being La Ventana viewpoint, where you can see both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans simultaneously.
Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve
This option explores Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve, located on the Tilarán mountain range bordering the Monteverde conservation site, covering over 300 hectares (741 acres) of cloud forest. This area is home to various species, including spider monkeys and sloths.
