Pecorino Cheese and Wine Tour
The tour meets at 1 pm in the Montepulciano piazza Grande, where participants board the minibus to begin the tour.
Crossing the Orcia Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the first stop is a cheesemaker in the Pienza region, known for its famous varieties of pecorino cheese. Here, you will learn about the artisans dedicated to this production, covering the entire process from sheep care to tasting. Participants will also differentiate the various types of pecorino through tasting sessions.
Next, the tour proceeds to Montepulciano to visit a winery specializing in nobile wine, a protected denomination exclusive to this region and one of Italy's oldest wine varieties. Visitors will explore the winery where the wine is made and aged, followed by a tasting of this wine and another variety for comparison.
The tour concludes back at the starting point at 4 pm.
