Why see the Montevideo Carnival?

We'll meet at the entrance of Tablado Primero de Mayo, the venue for the Montevideo Carnival show. The Montevideo Carnival is one of the world's longest, lasting about 40 consecutive nights. This event is full of life and color.

The show features performances by 5 categories of artistic groups: murgas (musical theater-like), comedians, parodists, revistas (dancers), and comparsas (street performers in costumes). These groups perform at open-air venues known as tablados, central to the carnival's cultural heritage since the early 20th century.

We will experience between 3 and 6 different shows in Spanish, outside the tourist areas, providing an authentic view of local carnival culture. The event lasts between 3-5 hours.
