Lascaux IV: The International Centre for Cave Art
The Lascaux Cave is an essential archaeological site with over 600 paintings and engravings from prehistoric times, discovered in 1940. These artworks depict various animals and activities, showcasing artistic skill and attention to detail. The artists employed vivid colors and created effects of perspective and movement. Lascaux IV features an 8,000 square metre design that integrates into the landscape and presents a nearly complete reconstruction of the cave.
Guided Tour of Lascaux IV
With your ticket, you will begin a guided tour of Lascaux IV at Avenue de Lascaux in Montignac-Lascaux. Accompanied by a guide, you will enter a meticulously faithful replica of the original cave and learn its mysteries. The tour lasts about one hour, after which you can explore Lascaux IV at your own pace.
