Lascaux IV: The International Centre for Cave Art
Discovered in 1940, the Lascaux Cave is a significant archaeological site with over 600 paintings from prehistoric times. These artworks depict various animals and hunting scenes, demonstrating artistic skill and detail. The centre, Lascaux IV, covers 8,000 square metres and blends into the landscape, offering a near-complete reconstruction of the cave.
Guided Tour of Lascaux IV
Your journey begins with a guided tour at the International Cave Art Centre, located on Avenue de Lascaux in Montignac-Lascaux. Accompanied by a guide, you will step into Lascaux IV and explore a faithful replica of the original cave. The tour lasts approximately one hour before you continue to explore on your own.
