Day Trip Details
At the designated time, we'll meet at Avenida Francisco I Madero and head to the jetty of Lake Patzcuaro, where we'll board a boat to explore this enchanting lagoon.
After an hour's cruise on Lake Patzcuaro, we'll visit Isla Janitzio, an island of volcanic origin. We'll observe fishermen using their famous butterfly nets, and potentially see charal, black bass, tilapia, and carp in the lake.
Upon arriving at Janitzio Island, we'll ascend to the statue of José María Morelos, a significant monument of Mexican Independence standing 47.75 metres tall.
You will have free time for lunch before we explore the village, historically the province's capital since 1534, and learn about Don Vasco de Quiroga, the first archbishop of Michoacán, who supported the local indigenous community.
