Get to know one of the most famous butterfly nets in Lake Patzcuaro and enjoy a visit to Janitzio Island on this day trip from Morelia.
Day Trip Details
We will meet at Avenida Francisco I Madero and head to the jetty of Lake Patzcuaro to board a boat for a cruise of the lagoon.
After an hour's cruise on Lake Patzcuaro, we'll visit Isla Janitzio, an island of volcanic origin. Observe fishermen with their butterfly nets and possibly see charal, black bass, tilapia, and carp.
Upon disembarking on Janitzio Island, we will climb to the statue of José María Morelos, a 47.75-meter tall monument commemorating a key figure in Mexican Independence.
You will have free time for lunch. Afterwards, we will explore the village, known as the province's capital in 1534, learning about Don Vasco de Quiroga, who supported the local indigenous community.
We will return by boat to the departure pier and head back to Morelia, arriving at your hotel after a total of 8 hours.
