El Oro de Hidalgo & Tlalpujahua de Rayón Day Trip

On this day trip, we will explore the Magic Towns of El Oro de Hidalgo and Tlalpujahua de Rayón, departing from your hotel in Morelia at 7 am.

Our first destination is El Oro de Hidalgo, where we will embark on a walking tour of the historic center. Notable sights include the neoclassical Parish Church of Santa María de Guadalupe and the Juárez Theatre, showcasing art nouveau architecture. We will also enter an old mine shaft to learn about mining processes and the associated dangers. Participants will have the opportunity to carve stone in a stonemasonry workshop and observe a glassblowing workshop.

Following a 1-hour lunch break, we will proceed to Tlalpujahua de Rayón. This town features cobbled streets and colonial architecture. The guided tour includes visits to a 17th-century Franciscan convent, the temple of Santiago Puxtla, and the Church of El Carmen. We will explore why the town is known as the town of eternal Christmas, and there will be time to shop for souvenirs in local Christmas shops.

We will return to Morelia, arriving at your hotel at 8:30 pm.
