On our day trip to El Oro de Hidalgo and Tlalpujahua de Rayón, we will explore two of Mexico's Magic Towns, departing from Morelia.

El Oro de Hidalgo & Tlalpujahua de Rayón Day Trip

You will be picked up from your hotel in Morelia at 7 am, heading first to the El Oro de Hidalgo Magic Town. There, a walking tour of the historic centre will showcase stately buildings reflecting the prosperous era of the gold mines. Key sites include the neoclassical Parish Church of Santa María de Guadalupe and the Juárez Theatre.

The tour will also take us into an old mine shaft to discuss mining processes and risks. Following this, there will be a stop at a 100-year-old draught and an opportunity to participate in a stonemasonry workshop. A glassblowing workshop will allow you to observe the creation of handcrafted glass pieces.

Afterward, you will have 1 hour of free time for lunch before we proceed to the Magic Town of Tlalpujahua de Rayón. This town features cobbled streets and colonial architecture, with a guided tour covering its mining history.

Your tour will include visits to a 17th-century Franciscan convent, the temple of Santiago Puxtla, and the Church of El Carmen. We will also explore the reason for its designation as the town of eternal Christmas. After the walking tour, there will be an opportunity to purchase souvenirs at one of the Christmas shops.

The return to Morelia will conclude with an arrival at your hotel by 8:30 pm.
