Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary Sierra Chincua

At 7 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Morelia and travel to the Sierra Chincua Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary, which takes about two and a half hours.

Upon arrival, we'll explore the trails in search of monarch butterflies, which migrate thousands of kilometers from the northern United States and Canada to this region with fir, pine, and oyamel trees.

We will have a one-hour break along the way for a snack. Afterward, we continue through the Chincua mountain range and around Tlalpujahua to observe the butterfly colonies. Monarchs can measure 11 centimeters with their wings open and weigh less than half a gram, playing a crucial role in pollination in Mexican forests.

At the nesting site of the monarch butterflies, you will see eggs, caterpillars, and chrysalises. You will have one hour of free time for lunch before we return to the starting point of the route, which takes about 40 minutes.

Finally, we will take you back to your hotel in Morelia, arriving around 10 pm.
