Visit the Sierra Chincua Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary on this tour from Morelia and learn about the insect's migration patterns.

Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary Sierra Chincua

At 7 am, pickup will be at your hotel in Morelia for a drive to the Sierra Chincua Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary, approximately two and a half hours. Upon arrival, participants will explore the trails in search of monarch butterflies, which migrate from the northern United States and Canada to this forested area.

There will be a one-hour break for a snack halfway through the route. The journey continues through the Chincua mountain range and around Tlalpujahua to view butterfly colonies. Monarch butterflies have a wingspan of 11 centimeters and weigh about half a gram, playing a significant role in pollination in Mexican forests.

At the nesting site, attendees will observe eggs, caterpillars, and chrysalises, followed by an hour of free time for lunch. Afterward, the group will return to the starting point, reaching it in about 40 minutes.

The tour concludes with a return to your hotel in Morelia, expected by 10 pm.
