Alcantara Gorges Water Trekking

On this water trekking route through the Alcantara Gorges, we'll explore a protected natural area in the north-east of Sicily.

Tour Description

Participants will meet at the designated time at the adventure sports centre located on the carretera da Sciara s/n. From this point in Motta Camastra, there will be a short drive in an off-roading vehicle to the gorges of the Alcantara River.

Upon arrival, we will begin an exciting water trekking activity through the gorges. The route covers 700 meters to 1 kilometre (0.4 to 0.6 miles), showcasing volcanic rock walls up to 25 metres (82 ft) high, formed by the cooling of magma. Participants will walk along the river bed and observe various geological formations.

Throughout the hike, we will learn about the origin of these canyons and discover the flora and fauna in this ecosystem, known for its landscapes. The route will conclude with a return to the starting point, where the off-roading vehicle will be waiting to take participants back to the meeting point. The total duration of this activity is 1 hour.
