Harburg Castle and Rothenburg Day Trip
The route from Munich to Harburg Castle and Rothenburg is known as Southern Germany's Romantic Road. The journey takes you through the scenic forests and mountains of Bavaria.
After pickup from the meeting point, we will depart for rural Bavaria. Our first stop is Harburg Castle, where you can visit this 11th-century fortress at your own pace (entry not included). This hilltop complex is one of the oldest and best-preserved medieval citadels in Bavaria.
Next, we will continue to Rothenburg, passing through the volcanic landscapes of the Suabia region that are rich in fossils of prehistoric animals.
Upon arrival in Rothenburg, a medieval town known for its preservation, you will see the striking red tiles on the rooftops. We will explore the cobbled streets and the old town, featuring the 14th-century wall which we will enter through the historic gateway. You can walk along the wall and climb to the top of the 200m Röedert Tower.
After the tour, you will have free time for meals and shopping in the narrow streets of this beautiful location. Our return trip to Munich will pass through Hallertau, the largest hop-growing area in the world, bringing us back to the departure point around 7 pm.
