Day Trip to Harburg Castle and Rothenburg

The path from Munich to Harburg Castle and Rothenburg is famously known as Southern Germany's Romantic Road. En route, you will immerse yourself in the stunning landscapes of Bavaria, characterized by its lush forests and majestic mountains.

Your adventure begins with a pickup from the designated meeting point, leading us deep into the heart of rural Bavaria. Our first destination is Harburg Castle, where you can explore this magnificent fortress from the 11th century at your leisure (entry not included). This impressive hilltop site is recognized as one of the oldest and best-preserved medieval castles in Bavaria. Notably, even Michael Jackson showed interest in its charm, designating it as "the castle of my dreams."

Continuing our route, we make our way towards Rothenburg. This journey takes us through the mesmerizing volcanic formations of the Swabia region, a hotspot for numerous prehistoric fossil discoveries.

Upon arrival at Rothenburg, you will encounter a quaint medieval town that has skillfully maintained its historic essence throughout the ages. The distinct red-tiled roofs have earned it the charming nickname of 'Red Fort'.

As we wander through the delightful cobbled streets and the captivating old town, we will encounter the formidable 14th-century walls, accessible through the historic city gateway. Feel free to walk along the wall and even ascend the 200m Röedert Tower for spectacular views.

After this captivating tour, you will enjoy some free time to grab a bite to eat and shop along the picturesque narrow lanes of one of Germany's most stunning locations.

As our day concludes, we will traverse the Hallertau, noted as the globe's largest hop cultivation area, before returning to the meeting point in Munich, marking the end of this 11-hour adventure.
