Harburg Castle and Rothenburg Day Trip

The route from Munich to Harburg Castle and the city of Rothenburg is often referred to as Southern Germany's Romantic Road. This trip immerses you in the idyllic forests and mountains of Bavaria.

After collecting you from the meeting point, we will begin our trip into rural Bavaria. Our first stop is Harburg Castle, where you can visit this 11th-century fortress at your own pace (entry not included). This site is one of the oldest and best conserved medieval citadels in Bavaria.

Next, we continue to Rothenburg, passing through the volcanic landscapes of the Suabia region, known for its fossils of prehistoric animals.

Upon arrival at Rothenburg, a medieval town perfectly preserved over the centuries, you will see its distinctive red-tiled rooftops, earning it the nickname 'Red Fort'.

We will explore the cobbled streets and enchanting old town, including the 14th-century wall and the old gateway to the city. You also have the opportunity to stroll along the wall and climb the 200m Röedert Tower.

After the tour, you will have free time to eat and shop in the narrow streets of this beautiful location.

Our return trip to Munich passes through Hallertau, the largest hop-growing area in the world, with arrival back at the meeting point around 7 pm.
