Walking Tour Details

Your experience begins at 10:15 am with a meeting at Munich Central Station, where the guide will welcome you. The tour will take you to key landmarks in the city, revealing the intriguing narratives of the German Empire, the Weimar Republic, and the era of the Third Reich.

As we journey through Germany's third-largest city, you'll step back in time as we pause to admire the renowned Rathaus-Glockenspiel in Marienplatz, located in the vibrant heart of Munich. This charming clock chimes 2-3 times daily, reenacting captivating events from the 16th century. Our exploration will also lead us to Viktualienmarkt, an extensive market that has been serving the community since 1807 after it outgrew its original location in Marienplatz, showcasing traditional Bavarian culture.

Next, our route brings us to the stunning Odeonsplatz, an Italianate square where you can bask in the views of the elegant Nationaltheater Opera House and the magnificent Residenz. Here, we'll delve into the history of the Bavarian monarchy as we visit the former palace of the Wittelsbach rulers.

Our stroll will then take us along the prestigious Maximilianstrasse, a royal boulevard that spans a mile. This prestigious shopping street was conceived to blend historic architecture with contemporary design, offering a unique visual experience.

Another notable highlight of our tour is the legendary Hofbräuhaus, established in the 16th century when beer prices became prohibitively high in Bavaria. This significant brewery not only played a vital economic role in the 17th century—contributing up to 50% of Bavaria's income—but also served as a pivotal gathering spot for various historical events, including the presentation of Hitler’s 25 point programme.

The duration of this enriching walking tour is approximately 2 hours.
