Discover the stories, fables, and legends hidden behind the walls of the Mad King's Palace on this tour to Neuschwanstein Castle from Munich.

Tour Details

After meeting the guide in the morning, we will travel to the south of Bavaria by bus or train, depending on the season. During the two-hour journey, the professional English-speaking guide will share interesting facts about the region.

Participants will see Neuschwanstein Castle and have the opportunity to admire Hohenschwangau Castle, the childhood home of Ludwig II of Bavaria. The tour will include descriptions of this historic figure, known as the Mad King, while enjoying the views of the iconic castle that inspired Walt Disney.

The tour will visit prime viewpoints for Neuschwanstein's architecture, such as the Marienbrücke, a bridge 98 feet (30 metres) high offering great photo opportunities of the Bavarian landscape. If time and weather permit, there may be an option to explore the lake on the castle grounds or have a leisurely walk through the countryside, including a stop for food and drinks.

Participants can choose to enter Neuschwanstein Castle to view its interior decor; tickets (24EUR for adults, free for children under 18) are not included but can be purchased directly from the guide. There is a short uphill walk from the car park, with options for a horse-drawn carriage or bus ride.

After nine hours of exploring German history and architecture, the tour will conclude back in Munich.
