Mussomeli Monuments Tour
At the appointed time, we'll meet at the Piazzale Castello Manfredonico to start exploring Mussomeli's characteristic monuments.
Before entering the Manfredonico Castle, we will admire its impressive façade and learn about its historical importance. Built in the 14th century by a descendant of Charlemagne, we will discuss Manfredi III Chiaramonte and his influence on Sicily.
We will enter the monument to visit its armoury, throne room, bedroom, and chapel, and examine the decoration and hidden traps within the castle.
After visiting the Manfredonico Castle, we will walk to the centre of Mussomeli for a guided tour of other historical monuments.
This includes the church of San Ludovico or Chiesa Madre, built at the request of Manfredi III, the façade of the Clock Tower, and Palazzo Trabia. We will also see Palazzo Sgadari, which was formerly a prison and now hosts the archaeological museum of Mussomeli.
After a four-hour tour, we will conclude by bidding farewell to the Palazzo Sgadari.
