Mussomeli Monuments Tour
At the appointed time, we'll meet at the Piazzale Castello Manfredonico to start exploring one of the most characteristic monuments of Mussomeli.
Before entering the Manfredonico Castle, we'll pause to admire its façade and learn about this building's historical importance. This castle was built in the 14th century by order of a descendant of Charlemagne. We'll learn about Manfredi III Chiaramonte and his influence in Sicily.
Then, we'll enter the monument to visit its armoury, throne room, bedroom, and chapel. We'll review the building's decoration and discuss its hidden traps.
Once we've seen the Manfredonico Castle, we'll walk to the centre of Mussomeli for a guided tour of other important historical monuments.
We'll visit the church of San Ludovico or Chiesa Madre, built at the request of Manfredi III. After visiting the interior, we'll see the façade of the Clock Tower, explore Palazzo Trabia, and examine Palazzo Sgadari, which once served as a prison and is now the seat of the archaeological museum of Mussomeli.
After a four-hour tour, we'll conclude by saying farewell at the Palazzo Sgadari.
