Travel back in time to the Sicilian Middle Ages by joining us on this guided tour of Mussomeli and the Manfredonico Castle. We'll visit the most iconic monuments of this town and learn all about its history.

Mussomeli Monuments Tour

At the appointed time, we'll meet at the Piazzale Castello Manfredonico to start exploring one of the most characteristic monuments of Mussomeli.

Before entering the Manfredonico Castle, we'll pause to admire its impressive façade and learn about its historical importance, built in the 14th century by a descendant of Charlemagne. We'll discuss Manfredi III Chiaramonte and his power in Sicily.

Then, we'll enter the monument to visit its armoury, throne room, bedroom and chapel. We’ll examine the decoration of the building and discuss its hidden traps.

Once we've seen Manfredonico Castle, we'll walk to the center of Mussomeli for a guided tour of other important historical monuments.

We'll visit the church of San Ludovico or Chiesa Madre, built at Manfredi III's request. After that, we'll see the façade of the Clock Tower and explore Palazzo Trabia and Palazzo Sgadari, which served as a prison and now houses the archaeological museum of Mussomeli.

After a four-hour tour, we'll conclude by bidding farewell to Palazzo Sgadari.
