Ice Climbing and Glacier Hike on Sólheimajökull

We will convene at the designated parking area by the glacier to commence our journey into the stunning landscape of south Iceland.

After a brief introduction, we will set off on a 30-minute hike leading us to the glacier itself. Throughout this trek, we will share fascinating insights about these majestic ice structures.

Upon arrival at the base of Sólheimajökull, we will equip ourselves with the necessary gear and provide a thorough introduction to the fundamentals of ice climbing. Then, we will begin our ascent through the glacier's walls and crevasses. Get ready for an unforgettable adventure!

The glacier's ice cap rests atop the formidable Katla volcano, recognized as one of Iceland’s largest and most active volcanic craters. Have you ever experienced the thrill of climbing near a volcano? On clear days, we may also catch a glimpse of Eyjafjallajökull, the volcano that famously disrupted air travel across Europe in 2010 with its massive ash cloud.

Once our ice climbing session concludes, we will hike back to our starting point, completing our excursion approximately 4 hours after our initial gathering.
