Solheimajokull Ice Climbing & Glacier Hike
Participants will meet at the glacier parking lot at the scheduled time to commence the experience on the Sólheimajökull glacier in the south of Iceland. Following introductions, a 30-minute hike to the glacier will begin, during which interesting facts about the ice formations will be shared.
Upon reaching the foot of Sólheimajökull, participants will don the necessary equipment and receive instruction on the basics of ice climbing. The activity will proceed with climbing the walls and crevasses of the glacier.
The glacier is situated on the Katla volcano, one of Iceland's largest and most active craters. On clear days, it may be possible to see Eyjafjallajökull, notable for its eruption in 2010 that disrupted European air traffic.
After the ice climbing portion, participants will hike back to the meeting point, concluding the activity approximately 4 hours after it begins.
