On this guided tour of Shirakawa, you'll experience the traditional Japanese village in Gifu prefecture.
Description
We'll meet at the Shirakawa bus terminal at the scheduled time to begin our tour of this rural area of Japan.
The first stop will be a viewpoint offering panoramic views of Shirakawa, where we will appreciate the gassho-zukuri-style houses with their distinctive sloping roofs.
Next, we'll proceed to the Nagase house, a 250-year-old traditional home that has been inhabited by the same family for generations. Here, we will discuss the construction, layout, and local lifestyle.
Afterwards, we will visit the Myozenji Temple, founded in the 18th century, which is a sacred site in Shirakawa. We will explore various areas of the shrine, including the main prayer hall and the zen garden.
Our final stop will be the Shirakawa Hachiman Temple located on a hilltop, known for its architecture and views.
After two hours, we will conclude our guided tour of Shirakawa near the shrine. See you next time!
