Description
At the indicated time we'll meet at the Shirakawa bus terminal, where we'll begin our guided tour of this village in one of the most beautiful rural areas of Japan.
First, we'll head to a viewpoint with the best panoramic views of Shirakawa, admiring the gassho-zukuri-style houses with their sloping roofs.
Next, we'll visit the Nagase house, over 250 years old, inhabited by the same family throughout its history. Here, we will discuss the construction of these houses, their layout, and local life.
Afterward, we'll explore Myozenji Temple, established in the 18th century, a sacred location where we will see the main prayer hall and the zen garden.
Finally, we'll proceed to Shirakawa Hachiman Temple, atop a hill, known for its architecture and views.
After two hours, we'll conclude our guided tour of Shirakawa near the shrine. See you next time!
