Full-Day Tour (8.5 Hours)
We will convene at Kanazawa Station at the designated time, where we’ll board a bus for a picturesque ride to the historic village of Shirakawago. This approximately one-hour journey showcases the mesmerizing scenery of the Japanese Alps—be sure to have your camera on hand to capture the stunning views!
Once we arrive, you will be welcomed by the captivating traditional Gassho-zukuri houses, known for their steep thatched roofs that withstand the region’s heavy snowfall. As we stroll through the village's quaint, historical streets, you’ll soon appreciate its designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Dive into the local culture, and for a true taste of the area, savor regional specialties like Hida beef or Doburoku ice cream—a delightful treat!
Following our Shirakawago exploration, we will head back to Kanazawa to visit the renowned Kenrokuen Garden, hailed as one of Japan's most stunning gardens. Here, you will meander through a beautifully crafted landscape, complete with tea houses, bridges, and picturesque nooks that seem straight out of a postcard.
Next, we will delve into Kanazawa’s vibrant artistic scene by engaging with a local artisan. Depending on availability, you might witness the meticulous process of Daruma painting or try your hand at creating traditional Japanese sweets—a truly memorable experience!
To conclude our day, we’ll wander through the Higashi Chaya district, a well-preserved entertainment hub reflecting the essence of geisha culture. Here, we will also uncover one of Kanazawa’s famous crafts—gold leaf postcards, a distinctive keepsake.
After 8.5 hours filled with cultural enrichment and discovery, we’ll make our way back to the starting location, wrapping up a remarkable day in Kanazawa.
