If you love adventure, you can't miss out on this trekking route on Mount Kenya. Enjoy one of the most famous expeditions in Africa by climbing to the top of the highest mountain in the country.
Description
Welcome to a once-in-a-lifetime experience! At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Nairobi and set off for Mount Kenya.
First, we'll travel to Nanyuki, the capital of Laikipia County, which serves as the base for the Kenyan Air Force and a training area for the British Army. This will be our starting point to climb Mount Kenya, the highest mountain in the country and the second highest in Africa.
Once there, we'll start walking from 1,980 metres (6,496 ft) to 2,650 metres (8,694 ft) through the Sirimon Gate, covering a total of 23 kilometres (14 miles) to the top of Mount Kenya.
We'll embark on a hiking route of about 3.5 hours, admiring the area's typical vegetation, including bamboo and rosewood trees. The first stop will be at Old Moses camp, 3,300 metres (10,826 ft) above sea level.
After resting and acclimatising, we'll continue the hike to 3,600 metres (11,811 ft) to admire the Nelion and Batian peaks, two key summits of Mount Kenya. With a camera full of photographs, we'll start our descent to the camp, where we'll enjoy a delicious picnic lunch. After eating, we'll continue our descent to Sirimon Gate, where the minibus will be waiting to take us back to Nairobi.
After this unforgettable experience, we'll end this 13-hour tour at your hotel.
