Tour Overview

Day 1: Nairobi - Samburu National Reserve

At the scheduled time, we will collect you from Nairobi airport or your accommodation and set out for the Samburu National Reserve. Departing the lively city, we will travel into the heart of the savannah, discovering a national park renowned for its rich biodiversity and striking landscapes.

After approximately a 6.5-hour drive, we will reach our lodge and complete the check-in process. Following that, a buffet lunch featuring an array of local and international dishes will be served.

In the afternoon, once you've had a chance to relax briefly, we will embark on our initial game drive. Within Samburu, you will encounter signature wildlife like the reticulated giraffe, Grevy's zebra, and the Somali ostrich. As we navigate through the park, we will keep our eyes peeled for remarkable creatures such as the beisa oryx and the gerenuk gazelle. Our journey will also follow the Ewaso Nyiro River, a crucial artery for the unique ecosystem here.

Before darkness descends, we will return to the lodge for dinner, providing an opportunity to unwind before embarking on the next day’s experiences.

Day 2: Samburu National Reserve - Nairobi

Good morning! We will start early, catching the sunrise as we head out for one last safari in Samburu—the optimal time to observe active wildlife. As the day begins, we may spot herds of gazelles, antelopes, giraffes, and zebras framed against the breathtaking scenery of the reserve.

Post-safari, we will head back to the lodge to enjoy a hearty breakfast. After refreshing, we will check out and commence our return journey to Nairobi.

Upon our arrival in Nairobi, you’ll be dropped off at your hotel or another desired location within the city.

Visiting a Maasai Village

During your leisure time, you have the option to visit a nearby Maasai village. Simply coordinate with your guide to ensure it fits within the planned safari itinerary. This experience allows you to engage with the vibrant culture of the Maasai, celebrated for their colorful traditional clothing and longstanding practices.

3-Day Safari

If your schedule permits, consider extending your adventure to a 3-day safari in the Samburu National Reserve.

On the second day, following a morning safari, we will return to the lodge where you can take advantage of its amenities. Enjoy another buffet lunch, and in the afternoon, we will set off for a further exciting wildlife safari, concluding the day back at the lodge for a delightful dinner.

On the third day, we will embark on a final sunrise safari. Following this, we'll return for breakfast, check out, and start our return journey to Nairobi, where you will be dropped off at your chosen destination in the city.

Accommodation

This safari includes 1 or 2 nights of full-board accommodation at one of the following establishments:

Samburu Sopa Lodge (3*): situated within the Samburu National Reserve.Samburu Simba Lodge (4*): located in Buffalo Springs National Park, adjacent to Samburu.

Please be aware that accommodation selections are subject to availability.

Room assignments will be based on group size, with double rooms provided accordingly. For groups with an odd number, one single room will be included with double occupancy as needed.

Children under 4 years can join for free when sharing a bed with adults, limited to one child in each single room, while in double rooms, a maximum of two is permitted.

Essential Information: Schedules and Flights

When planning your flight to Nairobi, remember that we expect to pick you up by 6 am. Therefore, aim for your arrival flight to land no later than 4 am. To prevent potential delays, it is advisable to stay at a hotel in Nairobi the night prior to your safari, bearing in mind that this accommodation will be at your expense.

On the final day of the safari, we anticipate arriving back in Nairobi by 6 pm. We can drop you off at the airport or any designated location in the city. If you intend to catch a flight from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on the same day, it is prudent to book domestic flights for no earlier than 8 pm and international flights for no sooner than 9 pm.
