Lava and ash petrified the citizens of Pompeii, creating a remarkable historical record. This excursion allows you to explore the history of the world's most famous volcanic eruption, including a climb of the volcano itself.
Description
We will pick you up at your hotel in Naples, the train station, or the marina at the scheduled time, depending on availability, to start this 7-8 hour day trip.
After a 40-minute drive, we'll arrive at Pompeii, a prominent archaeological site. Following the eruption of Mount Vesuvius on August 24, 79 AD, the town's inhabitants were buried. Accompanied by a guide, we will visit the excavated buildings from the 18th century, including the forum, thermal baths, and theatre. The visit includes the Roman brothel, featuring various erotic paintings.
After our guided tour of Pompeii, a light lunch with soft drinks or water will be provided. Then, we will head to Torre del Greco to begin our ascent of Vesuvius, offering stunning views of Naples Bay from the peak.
After descending Vesuvius, we will return by bus to Naples, concluding the 7-8 hour excursion.
Language
An accompanying guide will provide explanations during the bus ride.Park guides will be available during the ascent to the crater of Mount Vesuvius. English-speaking guides are not guaranteed for this portion.
Important Info
Pickup service at the port of Naples is available only for cruise ship passengers. If you are staying in the city, pickup at your hotel or nearest train station will be arranged based on availability.
