If you're passionate about history, don't miss this guided tour of the National Archaeological Museum of Naples! We'll admire such outstanding pieces as the mosaic of Issus and the sculptures of the Farnese collection.

Tour of the Naples National Archaeological Museum

At the time of your choice, we'll meet in front of the National Archaeological Museum ticket office to start a tour of one of the most important collections in Naples.

After a brief introduction, we'll begin our tour of the permanent exhibition by visiting the Farnese collection, which brings together a large compendium of Greco-Latin pieces. Stand-out pieces include the statue of Hercules, the statue of the Farnese bull, and the busts of the Roman emperors.

The tour continues in the rooms of Pompeii and Herculaneum, where we'll see pieces buried by volcanic lava after the eruption of Vesuvius on August 29, 79 AD. We'll explore the significance of this natural disaster for the Roman Empire and other rooms of the collection. We'll stop in front of the mosaic of the Battle of Issus, depicting Alexander the Great fighting against Darius III.

Finally, we'll conclude the tour by returning to the main entrance of the museum after 2 hours. You can explore the museum further on your own until closing time if desired.
