Laguna Sofia Trekking & Cave Art Tour

Join us on a trekking route around Laguna Sofia, to explore the best the Chilean Patagonia has to offer. We'll also visit the Escondida and La Ventana cave paintings, unique in the Magallanes region.

Description

On the day of the activity, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Puerto Natales at 8:30 am and drive to the Laguna Sofia trailhead, arriving after approximately 90 minutes.

After a brief preparatory talk, we'll set off on a 3.5-hour, 8-kilometre (4.9-mile) route of moderate intensity, heading first towards the cave sector to admire geological formations and continue through a lenga forest.

In the next stage, we'll visit the lagoon's viewpoint, an area to observe native birds like the Andean condors.

A light snack and mate will be provided, then we'll walk along rocky walls to see a collection of cave paintings. The route includes visits to the La Ventana and Escondida caves, where we will observe stalactites and stalagmites and traces of extinct fauna.

Finally, we'll stop at the Los Aleros Dos Herraduras sector before returning to the trailhead. The total return to your hotel in Puerto Natales is expected by 1:30 pm.
