Laguna Sofia Trekking & Cave Art Tour

Join us on a trekking route around Laguna Sofia, to explore the best the Chilean Patagonia has to offer. We'll also visit the Escondida and La Ventana cave paintings, unique in the Magallanes region.

Description

On the day of the activity, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Puerto Natales at 8:30 am and drive to the Laguna Sofia trailhead, arriving after approximately 90 minutes.

After a brief preparatory talk, we'll begin a 3.5-hour, 8-kilometre (4.9-mile) trek of moderate intensity towards the cave sector, where we'll observe geological formations and continue through a lenga forest.

Next, we'll reach the lagoon's viewpoint, ideal for spotting native birds like the Andean condors.

We'll enjoy a light snack and mate, then proceed to view the area's rocky walls, featuring unique cave paintings. The trek includes visits to the La Ventana and Escondida caves, where we will see stalactites and stalagmites and observe traces of extinct fauna.

Our final stop will be at the Los Aleros Dos Herraduras sector, followed by our return to the trailhead. We'll return to your hotel in Puerto Natales, arriving by 1:30 pm.
