Nazaré Walking Experience

The adventure begins at the designated time at the Peixe Seco Museum, marking the start of our walking tour through Nazaré. Here, we will immerse ourselves in the charm of the town and its historical landmarks.

At the Peixe Seco Museum, we will uncover the significance of fishing in the region and discover how the traditional practice of drying fish has played a vital role in supporting the local economy through the years.

Next, we will stroll through the vibrant Nazaré market towards the Pederneira Casa Museu do Pescador. This fascinating museum invites us to step back in time, showcasing the fishermen's ancient tools, traditional garments, and historic photographs that illustrate the community's deep connection to the sea.

Continuing our journey, we will make our way to Casal das Figueiras, where a pleasant walk amidst its gardens allows us to take in the breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean.

Our next destination is the Elevador da Nazaré, a lift that transports us from the town center to Sitio, a higher vantage point offering stunning vistas. Here, you will have the chance to witness the massive waves that have earned Nazaré its international reputation among surfers. We will then proceed to the Ermida da Memoria, a picturesque sanctuary perched on a cliff with panoramic views of the sea.

To conclude our journey, we will visit the São Miguel Arcanjo Sanctuary and Fort, two landmarks emblematic of Nazaré. As we explore these sites, we will gain insight into the town's military history while admiring the formidable fortifications.

This walking tour will wrap up after covering a distance of 2.5 to 4.5 km (1.5 to 2.7 miles), returning to our initial gathering spot.
