Nazaré Walking Tour
We will meet at the Peixe Seco Museum at the indicated time to start the guided walking tour of Nazaré. Here, we will learn about the importance of fishing in Nazaré and the traditional technique of drying fish that has been vital to the local economy.
Next, we will proceed through the Nazaré market to the Pederneira Casa Museu do Pescador, where we will see fishermen's ancient tools, traditional outfits, and photographs that reflect the history of this coastal community.
After this, we will visit Casal das Figueiras to enjoy a walk around its gardens and appreciate the views of the Atlantic.
Our next stop will be the Elevador da Nazaré, which connects the town center to Sitio, offering impressive views, including the giant waves that have made Nazaré famous among surfers. From there, we will head to the Ermida da Memoria, a sanctuary on a cliff with sea views.
We will conclude the tour at the São Miguel Arcanjo Sanctuary and Fort, significant sites in Nazaré, where we will learn about the town's military history while admiring the walls. The walking distance will be between 2.5 and 4.5 km (1.5 to 2.7 miles), ending at the initial meeting point.
