Enjoy dinner at a restaurant in the Tatacoa Desert and learn about stars in an Astronomical Observatory on this day trip from Neiva.

Day Trip Details

At the designated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Neiva and set off to the Tatacoa Desert for an unforgettable experience in one of Colombia's most spectacular locations.

The Tatacoa Desert, known as the second-largest arid region in Colombia, is a tropical dry forest. Despite average temperatures exceeding 95°F (35°C), it is home to plants and animals adapted to these conditions.

You will dine at either El Rincón del Cabrito restaurant or the terrace of Hotel Cosmos, enjoying an outdoor dinner while admiring the natural landscape. The restaurant's specialty, roasted goat, is a popular dish in the region of Huila.

After dinner, we will take you to the Astrosur Astronomical Observatory or VyctoriaStars Observatory, depending on availability. The center's Spanish-speaking team will provide a discussion and showcase why the Tatacoa Desert is a renowned stargazing site. If conditions allow, you will experience the night sky firsthand.

Finally, we will begin our journey back to the starting point, completing this 6-hour day trip.
