The 25-minute cable car journey starts from Tung Chung, a historic fishing village now featuring contemporary high-rises amidst greenery.

The gondola journey through the hilly countryside of Ngong Ping offers 360-degree views of the village, home to the Po Lin Monastery. This Buddhist complex hosts the Tian Tan Buddha, or Big Buddha, a statue of 112 feet (34 m), among the largest in China. Reservation options include one-way or round-trip in either the standard cabin or the crystal cabin, the latter featuring a glass bottom for panoramic views.
