The story centers on young prince Simba, whose evil uncle Scar plots to kill him and his father, King Mufasa. Although Simba survives, Scar leads him to believe he is responsible for Mufasa’s death, prompting Simba to flee. Upon his return years later, he witnesses the decline of the savannah under Scar's rule and decides to reclaim his rightful place.

The Lion King is based on the 1994 Oscar-winning Disney film and has won six Tony Awards and an Evening Standard Award. It has been New York’s best-selling musical since 1997.
