Bandia Reserve & Lac Rose Private Tour

Your journey starts with a pickup from your hotel in Saly early in the morning. A drive will lead you to the expansive Bandia Nature Reserve. Within this protected area, you will navigate through lush forests and view a variety of wild animals that call the African Savannah home.

On the way, you will encounter striking baobab trees, iconic to this region. Your guide will share insights about the cultural significance of these trees for the Senegalese people and their use in traditional burial practices.

As we proceed in the off-roading vehicle, keep an eye out for the rich wildlife that thrives here. You may spot an array of species including birds, giraffes, buffalos, zebras, rhinos, monkeys, ostriches, and hyenas. Remember to bring your camera to capture these unforgettable moments.

Once the safari concludes, we will leave Bandia and head north along Senegal's coast to reach Lac Rose (Pink Lake). Upon arrival, you will have some free time to dine at local restaurants at your leisure.

Afterward, we will board the 4x4 vehicle to embark on a tour of the lake and the surrounding sand dunes. Your guide will explain the reasons behind the lake's unique coloration that led to its name. If time allows, you might also take a refreshing dip in the salty waters.

We plan to return to Saly around 6 pm.

Bathing in Lac Rose

Bathing in Lac Rose will only take place if time permits. Should there be sufficient time, you will have 15 minutes to relish the enchanting pink waters.

Due to heavy rains in the summer of 2024, the lake has accumulated more water and lost its distinctive color. Salt extraction operations have resumed, along with tours and activities, but the vibrant pink hue has yet to return, and it remains uncertain when it will be restored.
