Dakar & Goree Island Private Tour
At the scheduled time, we will collect you from your hotel in Saly and head to the north of Senegal. After traveling for around an hour and a half, we will reach Dakar, the country's capital.
Our first stop is at the port, where a ferry will take us across to the island of Goree, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Here we will learn about the island’s role in the Atlantic slave trade between the 16th and 19th centuries.
We will explore the island, visit the House of Slaves, and learn about its history as a prison and marketplace for African slaves. We will also stroll through the island’s narrow streets, admiring the colonial houses, stopping at a local restaurant for traditional food (not included).
After our meal, we will return to the ferry and sail back to Dakar. In the capital, we will take a walking tour around essential sights, starting at Independence Square, surrounded by buildings from the 1940s and 1950s.
We will also see the Presidential Palace, visit the bustling markets of Kermel and Sandaga, the artisan stalls of Soumbedioune, and the African Renaissance Monument. Lastly, we will explore the neighborhood of Medina and visit the Grand Mosque and the colorful market of Tilene.
We return to Saly at around 6 pm to drop you back at your hotel.
