Visit the emblematic monuments and streets of Dakar with our tour of Senegal's capital, including a visit to the island of Goree to explore a significant historical context.

Dakar & Goree Island Private Tour

We will pick you up from your hotel in Saly at the scheduled time and travel for approximately an hour and a half to Dakar, the capital city.

Our first stop is the port, where a ferry will take us to the island of Goree, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We will learn about its history as a significant port in the Atlantic slave trade from the 16th to the 19th centuries. We will explore key historic sites and memorials, including the House of Slaves, which operated as a prison and marketplace for African slaves.

After visiting the island's narrow streets and colonial houses, we will stop at a local restaurant for traditional food (not included). Following lunch, we will return to the ferry for the ride back to Dakar.

In the capital, we will embark on a waking tour of essential sights, starting at Independence Square. We will also see the Presidential Palace, the markets of Kermel and Sandaga, and artisan stalls at Soumbedioune. Additionally, we will encounter the African Renaissance Monument and discuss its controversies.

Finally, we will explore the Medina neighborhood, visiting the Grand Mosque and the colorful market of Tilene with local sellers.

We will return to Saly by around 6 pm and drop you back at your hotel.
