Joal-Fadiouth is a notable destination on the Petite-Côte coast of Senegal. Experience it on this trip from Saly.
Day Trip Details
You will be picked up from your hotel in Saly in the morning and taken to Joal, one of the municipalities in the Joal-Fadiouth area.
Your first stop will be the historic 15th-century fishing port, where you will learn about its history and notable figures, including Léopold Sédar Senghor, Senegal's first president and an important African intellectual.
The tour continues to Fadiouth, accessible via a wooden bridge connecting the two communities. Here, you will visit the local cemetery, known for its molusc shell tombs, which symbolize peace between different religions in Senegal.
After the guided tour of the cemetery, you may opt for a relaxing canoe ride back to the mainland, with a capacity of one passenger per boat at a cost of €15 per person. Alternatively, you can walk back across the wooden bridge to Joal.
You will then be returned to your hotel in Saly, enjoying the scenic coastal landscapes during the one-hour journey.
