Joal-Fadiouth Private Trip
We will pick you up in the morning from your hotel in Saly before heading to Joal, one of the two municipalities that form the Joal-Fadiouth area.
Upon arrival at the ancient 15th-century colony, we will first visit the famous fishing port. You will learn about its history and notable figures, such as Léopold Sédar Senghor, the first president of Senegal.
The next part of our tour takes us to the neighboring settlement of Fadiouth. We will walk across a wooden bridge that connects the two communities to discover the local cemetery, where tombs are predominantly made from the shells of mollusks. This graveyard is shared between Muslims and Christians, symbolizing peace and tolerance among different religions and cultures in Senegal.
After touring the cemetery, you can return to Joal either by taking an optional gentle canoe ride (€15) for one passenger or by walking back across the same bridge.
From Joal, we will take you back to your hotel in Saly. During the one-hour journey, you will admire the coastal landscapes of Senegal.
