Private Lac Rose Tour

Let the magical pink waters of Lac Rose cast their spell on you when you take our unforgettable trip to one of Senegal's most stunning natural environments.

Tour Details

We will collect you from your hotel in Saly at the scheduled time and then head 50 miles along the northern coast of Senegal. After traveling for around an hour and half, we will arrive at Lac Rose, known as the Pink Lake due to the amazing color of its water.

On our journey, you will learn all about how the pinkish tone of the water comes from its high concentration of salt and microscopic algae. The salt content here is ten times higher than that of the ocean, which is why you will see many people in the water, using traditional techniques to extract the mineral.

Upon arriving, we will change to a 4x4 vehicle which will take us around the lake's surroundings. You will see beautiful sand dunes nestled between the lake and the ocean. You will also discover the area which was used as the last stage of the Paris-Dakar Rally up until 2008.

After the ATV tour, you will then have the opportunity to take a dip in the saltwater lake and experience the amazing sensation of floating on the surface, completely unaided. Later we return to the initial starting point and climb back into the bus which will take you back to your hotel in Saly.

Bathing in Lac Rose

Bathing in Lac Rose only takes place if time allows. If there is sufficient time remaining at that point of the trip, you will have 15 minutes to enjoy a swim in the Pink Lake. Remember to bring your swimsuit if you want to take part.

Please Note

Due to the heavy rains of summer 2024, the lake has retained a lot of water and has lost its colour. Salt extraction activities have started up again, along with the excursions and activities offered there, but the colour has not returned yet, and we do not know when it will be pink again.
