Private Lac Rose Tour

Let the magical pink waters of Lac Rose cast their spell on you during our trip to one of Senegal's natural environments.

Tour Details

We will collect you from your hotel in Saly and travel 50 miles along the northern coast of Senegal. After approximately an hour and half, we will arrive at Lac Rose, known for its distinct color.

You will learn how the pinkish tone of the water results from its high concentration of salt and microscopic algae. The salt content here is significantly higher than that of the ocean, leading to traditional salt extraction techniques observed in the area.

Upon arrival, we will change to a 4x4 vehicle for a tour around the lake's surroundings, where you will see sand dunes and the area used as the last stage of the Paris-Dakar Rally until 2008.

After the tour, you may take a dip in the saltwater lake, experiencing the sensation of floating on the surface. Later, we will return to the bus for your transfer back to your hotel in Saly.

Bathing in Lac Rose

Bathing in Lac Rose occurs only if time permits. If so, you will have 15 minutes for a swim in the Pink Lake. Bring your swimsuit if you wish to participate.

Please Note

Due to heavy rains in summer 2024, the lake has retained water and lost its color. Salt extraction and activities have resumed, but the color has not returned yet.
