On this route on the Train of the Alps, we'll depart from Nice and travel through the Var Valley, known for its beauty.
Tour Description
We will meet at the Gare des Chemins de Fer de Provence train station. Our first stop is Entrevaux, where participants will explore the Royal Citadel, accessed via a 150-step staircase, and enjoy views from the medieval drawbridge. We will also visit a baroque cathedral.
After lunch at a local restaurant, we will continue to a nearby medieval village featuring troglodyte characteristics. A scenic 5-kilometer (3.1 miles) walk will explore a centuries-old chestnut forest. This route requires decent physical fitness.
Depending on the group's pace, we will choose between a shorter 4-kilometer hike or a longer 8-kilometer circuit. Either option allows for fresh alpine air as we navigate the forest.
We will then take the Alpine Train back to Nice, concluding this excursion of approximately 13.5 hours.
Early Return
If preferred, after the visit to the Entrevaux citadel and lunch, participants can return on their own to Nice, without the guide, arriving around 4 pm.
