On this route on the Train of the Alps, we will depart from Nice and journey through the Var Valley, a captivating area in the South of France.

Tour Description

At the appointed time, we will meet at the Gare des Chemins de Fer de Provence train station to begin our exploration of the Var Valley.

Our first stop is Entrevaux, recognized as one of the most picturesque towns in France. Here, you will visit the Royal Citadel, accessed by a 150-step staircase, and enjoy views from the medieval drawbridge overlooking the Var Valley. We will also see a baroque cathedral.

After lunch at a local restaurant, we will continue to a nearby medieval village known for its troglodyte features. A scenic 5-kilometer (3.1 miles) walk will allow you to explore an ancient chestnut forest. This route requires decent physical fitness.

Depending on the group's pace, we can choose between a shorter 4-kilometer hike or a longer 8-kilometer circuit. You will enjoy the fresh air of the Alps while exploring the forest.

We will take the Alpine Train back to Nice, concluding the excursion of approximately 13.5 hours.

Early Return

If preferred, after the visit to the Entrevaux citadel and lunch, you can return on your own to Nice, without the guide, with arrival scheduled around 4 pm.
