On this route on the Train of the Alps, we will depart from Nice and travel through the Var Valley, a captivating area in the South of France.
Tour Description
We will meet at the Gare des Chemins de Fer de Provence train station. Our first stop is Entrevaux, known for its scenic views. Here, you will explore the Royal Citadel, accessible via a 150-step staircase, and enjoy the vantage points from the medieval drawbridge. We will also visit a baroque cathedral.
After a lunch at a local restaurant, we will continue by train to a nearby medieval village noted for its troglodyte features. A scenic 5-kilometer (3.1 miles) walk will follow through an ancient chestnut forest, requiring decent physical fitness. Depending on group pace, we may choose between a shorter 4-kilometer hike or a longer 8-kilometer circuit, enjoying the fresh Alpine air.
The excursion will conclude approximately 13.5 hours later, with our return to Nice on the Alpine Train.
