Tour Details
At the indicated time, we'll begin this private tour of Nîmes from the square where the temple of the Maison Carrée is located.
The Roman period in Nîmes was significant in the city's history. In 27 B.C., Emperor Augustus founded this city in Gaul, establishing it as the capital of the province of Narbonne, which was key to facilitating the road to Hispania.
The prominent monument from the Imperial period is the Roman amphitheatre of Nîmes, known as the "little Coliseum of Rome," where gladiatorial combats and public spectacles took place.
We will continue through La Fontaine Gardens, a 17th-century space featuring the remains of the Temple of Diana and the Tour Magne, an ancient Roman watchtower 18 m (59 ft) high.
After 2 hours of sightseeing in Nîmes, we'll conclude our private tour in the city centre.
