Why Visit the Ensérune Archaeological Site?
The Ensérune archaeological site is situated atop a hill in the Roman oppidum style and is a significant destination in the Hérault region of Occitania.
Your entrance ticket allows you to explore the remnants of this ancient Gallic settlement, including the remains of a silo, which served as a storage facility for grains. The ticket also grants entry to the Ensérune Archaeological Museum, featuring an exhibition on seven centuries of history from the settlement's interactions with Celts, Iberians, Greeks, Etruscans, and Romans.
The museum presents models and 3-D reconstructions of the archaeological remains. Visitors can also see a recreated workspace of Felix Mouret, the archaeologist who led the excavation in 1916. While on-site, guests can enjoy panoramic views from the Cévennes to the Pyrenees and the Languedoc plain toward the Mediterranean coast.
