The History of New Orleans through Jazz

The New Orleans Jazz Museum is a place to discover one of the city's key elements: music.

Located in the historic Old U.S. Mint building, this museum allows visitors to explore the history and evolution of this musical genre in an immersive way.

Through interactive exhibits, educational programming, research installations, and various musical performances, the Jazz Museum offers a journey through how this musical genre changed the history of an entire generation.

This exhibit provides insight into jazz music as one of the most innovative musical arts in the world. The Jazz Museum houses one of the largest and most complete collections of pieces related to jazz culture, including Louis Armstrong's first cornet and the world's first jazz recording from 1917.
