Delve into the heart of New Orleans on this tour of the French Quarter. We'll learn about the European origins of this city, visit City Park & the Garden District, and remember the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
New Orleans Tour
At the appointed time we'll pick you up from your hotel to begin our tour of New Orleans. We'll start by strolling along the banks of the Mississippi River through the birthplace of the most important city in the state of Louisiana.
During the tour of the French Quarter we'll visit Jackson Square, where the Cathedral of St. Louis stands. New Orleans is a Catholic city in a Protestant country and the French Quarter is home to the oldest Catholic church in the United States. Nearby you'll also find the French Market.
We'll continue our tour to learn about the European heritage of the neighborhood. Its name comes from the Gallic invasion, but as we stroll through its streets we'll see its link with Bourbon Spain.
We'll leave the French Quarter by crossing Esplanade Avenue, where we'll see houses over 100 years old. This avenue of colonial mansions leads to City Park, the sixth largest urban park in the United States.
Golf courses, an art museum, and a sculpture garden are some attractions of City Park. We'll visit a cemetery in New Orleans, where we'll discover the strange burials that take place in this city.
We won't say goodbye before visiting the Garden District, full of historic mansions flanked by oak trees, and one of the areas most affected by Hurricane Katrina.
After three hours of sightseeing, we'll finish the tour by dropping you off at your hotel.
