El Boquerón National Park Day Trip

Embark on an exciting journey to one of the active volcanoes surrounding San Salvador by visiting El Boquerón National Park, which stands out as a significant natural reserve in Central America!

Tour Overview

Your adventure begins with a pick-up from your hotel at the designated time, depending on your starting location. You will board a comfortable bus that heads northwest towards El Boquerón National Park, a vast area exceeding 54 hectares.

As we approach the volcanic region, our first stop will be at the Reconciliation Monument, a sculpture of notable importance that we will explore during our journey. The next stop is at "The Little Prince" Theme Park in Santa Tecla, where we will uncover the connection between Antoine de Saint-Exupéry and El Salvador.

Continuing our journey, we will arrive at the protected site more than 4,265 ft (1,300m) above sea level, precisely at the summit of the San Salvador volcano. Once there, we will visit the Interpretation Center dedicated to the History of Eruptions, a significant hub given Central America's numerous active volcanoes.

After visiting the center, we will undertake a hike of approximately 1,476 ft (450m) to reach the volcano’s peak, from where you’ll have a stunning view of the San Salvador volcano’s crater. You'll discover fascinating facts about the last major eruption, which occurred nearly a century ago. We will then return through El Boquerón National Park's trails, soaking in the rich flora and fauna that call this area home.

Subsequently, we will hop back on our vehicle to go to a spot where you can observe the remarkable solidified lava resulting from the last eruption—truly a breathtaking natural display!

Lastly, our journey will conclude with a return to your hotels in San Salvador or El Tunco, wrapping up the experience in approximately three and a half hours.
