Tour Details
Meeting your guide in the historic centre of Nuremberg at the indicated time, you will begin a walking tour around what the Nazis considered their most significant city. Explore the Medieval buildings at Hauptmarkt, the main market square, formerly known as the Jewish Quarter before World War II.
Learn about the persecution of Jews in Nuremberg as you walk towards the monument for the former Synagogue. Your guide will discuss Kristallnacht, or the Night of Broken Glass, during your exploration of the old town.
Gain insight into Nuremberg's significance for Hitler and the Nazi Party, including figures like Julius Streicher. Visit the ruins of Katharinenkirche, an important Medieval church destroyed in WWII, and hear about the resistance and the role of women in the city's post-war reconstruction, known as Trümmerfrauen, or "rubble women."
At St Lorenz, a Gothic church from the 13th century, learn about concentration camps before heading to one of Hitler's favored buildings: the Opera House or Staatstheater Nürnberg.
The tour concludes at the Way of Human Rights, or the Strasse der Menschenrechte, where your guide will explain the significance of the postwar Nuremberg Trials in international law. The tour lasts 3 hours and ends in the centre of Nuremberg.
