Tour Details
After meeting in front of the Templo de San Matías Jalatlaco, we'll begin our Day of the Dead tour and head to the Santo Domingo Square to learn about the history behind Oaxaca's celebrations.
From this square, we will view the Temple of Santo Domingo de Guzmán, noted for its colorful decorations for the Day of the Dead. Bring your cameras to capture these moments!
We will walk through the vibrant streets of Oaxaca to the Panteón General. Here, at night, we will experience the essence of the celebration among tombs, music, and incense, discussing the traditions of Day of the Dead and its significance in Mexican culture.
Next, we will witness how residents of the Jalatlaco neighbourhood honor their deceased family members. Flowers, incense, and symbolism will be present as we stroll through alleys adorned with intricate altars at the entrances of houses.
The tour concludes with a delicious dinner featuring traditional Day of the Dead dishes, followed by farewells after this 4-hour tour.
